Masseria Montelauro has lived many lives. Founded around the year 1000 A.D., it was a place of prayer, a meeting point for monks, and a Salento herbal laboratory until its renovation in the late 1800s, when it took on a similar form to its current one. Today, Montelauro is a charming farmhouse, part of the Dimore Storiche (Historical Residences) and has received the UNESCO “La Fabbrica nel Paesaggio” (The Factory in the Landscape) Award.
It is surrounded by olive and almond groves, yet just a stone’s throw away from the turquoise waters and Blue Flag beaches of the Otranto coast.
