Visionary, enthusiastic, pioneers. In 2001, Elisabetta Massaro and her daughters, Caterina and Mercedes Turgi Prosperi, fell in love with Montelauro. At that time, Puglia was vastly different from its present-day status as a renowned and globally appreciated tourist destination.
“Girls, shall we really do it?” A single glance into each other’s eyes was enough for them to know that they all shared a deep passion for the project.
In just two years, their combined determination, tenacity, a touch of recklessness, and a generous sprinkling of good taste transformed a late 19th-century ruin into one of the most refined and renowned luxury accommodations in Southern Italy.
Together, things work better
Elisabetta handles public relations, Caterina takes care of the administrative side, and Mercedes manages the commercial aspects. It’s an all-female team effort, enriched by the irreplaceable Director Renato, maintenance staff member Tiziano, and our long-standing collaborators. You may meet some of them while they offer you a second cup of coffee at breakfast, serve you a refreshing drink by the pool, or take care of the garden, orchard, and olive grove with characteristic love and dedication.
